Wear-resistant ceramic with silicon carbide

Silicon carbide ceramic

Wear-resistant silicon carbide ceramic, also known as “Kalsica,” is a wear-resistant material that can withstand strong temperature changes. It belongs to the silicon carbide group and is available in two grades:

  • Kalsica-S: Silicon infiltrated into silicon carbide
  • Kalsica-A, -N, -P: Silicon carbide bound with nitrite

The material is pressed or cast and then sintered for highly accurate results. Custom parts can be bonded with heat and acid resistant sealant.

Key features

  • Resistant to high temperatures and thermoschocks
  • Available from 2 mm thickness
  • Suitable for very small tolerances

Applications of Kalsica

Wear-resistant silicon carbide ceramics are used in extreme conditions where wear and temperature are important factors:

  • Kalsica-N as a cladding of a cyclone
  • Kalsica in pneumatic lines in case of extreme wear

Kalsica’s versatility makes it an indispensable material in demanding industrial environments.

Practical advantages

Kalsica offers exceptional performance in situations where wear resistance and resistance to high temperatures are essential. Thanks to the ability to achieve very small tolerances, the material can be perfectly adapted to specific applications.

Technical details

Kalsica is available in various grades and can be supplied from a thickness of 2 mm. The customized parts are suitable for applications where high precision and resistance to thermoschocks are required.
