Ceramic of aluminum oxide
Wear-resistant ceramic with AL203
This oxide ceramic consists mainly of aluminum oxide AL203. Its structure and grain size provide exceptional wear resistance. It can be cast or pressed to make geometrically difficult shaped parts.
Key features
Kalocer offers a number of unique benefits, including:
- Available in very thin sheets, from as little as 1.5 mm thick
- Suitable for applications where space or weight restrictions apply
- Temperature range up to approximately 1000 °C
- Bonded with Kalfix or mechanically fastened
- Possibility of bonding to rubber sheets (see Keraflex)
Applications of Kalocer
Kalocer is widely used in industrial applications where wear resistance and high temperatures are essential:
- Cyclone cladding with Kalocer in 6 mm thickness
- Mixing valves with Kalocer and protective edges from WearProtect WMW
- Geometrically complex shaped parts, thanks to casting or pressing methods
- Bonded aluminum tiles for applications up to 180°C
- Mechanically fastened tiles with ceramic protective caps for higher temperatures
Practice
Kalocer has been used successfully in a variety of applications such as cyclone liners and mixing valves. The combination of high wear resistance and flexibility in fastening makes the material ideal for extreme industrial environments.
Technical details
Kalocer is available in different versions depending on the application. For lower temperatures (up to 180 °C), Kalfix epoxy adhesive is used. For higher temperatures, mechanically fastened tiles with ceramic protective caps are used.
